Datacenters are building facilities specially constructed to reliably support a high volume of data traffic and high density of networking equipment. The world’s largest such facilities - called mega datacenters – sometimes span over 1 million sq. ft. (roughly 100,000 square meters) of floor space, and they all consume tremendous amount of electricity.
Any functional computer network requires devices to be physically connected in some fashion. Connections may be wired via cables or wireless via compatible signaling hardware on each device. For both wired and wireless networks, different interconnection methods exist, each offering their own advantages in certain scenarios.
