Internet tax ban pushed by senators, 09/20/07: Three Republican U.S. senators on Thursday called on Congress to pass a permanent Internet tax ban before a moratorium expires Nov. 1. Using SAN-enabled certificates for OCS and Unified Messaging: Microsoft Subnet blogger Alex Lewis says, “There seems to be a limited understanding of certificates that allow Subject Alternative Names.” The upside is that they allow “a single cert-set for Exchange, OCS and all unified messaging.” Privacy groups: Google's call for standard not enough, 09/17/07: The U.S. government still needs to block or impose conditions on Google's acquisition of online advertising server DoubleClick, despite Google's call for global privacy standards, three privacy groups said Monday. U.K. prepares to let 3G services run on 2G spectrum, 09/20/07: The U.K. is considering letting mobile phone operators run 3G services on frequencies reserved for 2G services, a change that could mean better 3G coverage and lower costs for the public, the government's telecommunications regulator said Thursday.
