BJ’s shifts to MPLS network, 09/19/07: BJ’s Wholesale Club has enlisted the help of Qwest in its quest to sell large quantities of goods at low prices.

3Com investor charged in bomb threats, 09/19/07: An individual investor in 3Com was charged Wednesday by federal authorities with threatening to bomb investment firms if they did not boost the company’s stock.

U.K. prepares to let 3G services run on 2G spectrum, 09/20/07: The U.K. is considering letting mobile phone operators run 3G services on frequencies reserved for 2G services, a change that could mean better 3G coverage and lower costs for the public, the government's telecommunications regulator said Thursday.

Nortel replaces Enterprise chief, 09/20/07: In a surprise move, Nortel this week replaced its Enterprise Solutions chief, even though the unit is growing at about three times the market.

New Nortel Enterprise boss talks about game plan, 09/20/07: In an unexpected move, Nortel this week replaced its enterprise chief. After 20 years with Nortel, Enterprise Solutions President Steve Slattery is leaving the company Oct. 1. Taking over immediately, however, is Joel Hackney, Nortel’s former senior vice president of Global Operations and Quality, and another of CEO Mike Zafirovski’s colleagues from General Electric. Hackney, credited with driving many of Nortel's recent operational, supply chain, customer and business improvements, shared some thoughts with Network World Managing Editor Jim Duffy on the sudden switch, which comes while Enterprise Solutions is enjoying some solid momentum -- although apparently, things aren’t moving fast enough.
