During the Seattle How to Fix IT Panel of Experts keynote I moderated
for ITEC, one attendee asked a painful question: "How do you train
users to care about security?"

My immediate flip answer? You can train seals, but not users. Less
flip: users believe security is your job, not theirs, and that's your
biggest problem. Users need to equate security breaches with pain, and
right now they just equate security breaches with a Keystone Kops fire
drill by IT.
