"A promise is a cloud. Fulfillment is rain."
Arab proverb
Dear Vorticians,
This week, I've covered the following items in the VORTEX Blog.
As always, you can respond to them by writing to me at
mailto:jgallant@vortex.net, or you can post your thoughts at the
blog itself.
Rearden Commerce shows the power of Web services, 09/09/05
Remember General Magic? Microsoft's HailStorm? They didn't pan
out as promised. But Rearden Commerce really seems to be
delivering on the idea of a unified Web commerce system. Some big
customers are saving big dollars using Rearden's Commerce
Platform, which is showing off the power of services-oriented
applications. Read on at

EBay buying Skype - I don't get it. Do you?, 09/08/05
We've been talking about Vonage and questions about its IPO and
the future of the voice-over-IP market. Now EBay may be buying
Vonage rival Skype. Do you get why? I sure don't and I'd love to
know what I'm missing.

ABOUT VORTEX DIGEST
*********************************************************
VORTEX Digest is a weekly summary of the VORTEX Blogs written by
Executive Producer John Gallant and offers an ongoing dialogue
on matters raised at The VORTEX Conference, and within the VORTEX
Community.
VORTEX is an exclusive, invitation-only event for senior
executives that brings together all the key elements: leadership,
thought, funding, and regulatory expertise, to shape the future
of the network business and the technologies that drive it.
VORTEX shakes off the hype and helps you understand where you can
win new customers, and find new revenue in a time of dramatic and
seemingly unpredictable change.
