Array Networks on a green streak The IT industry is keen on green as enterprise companies look for ways to cut back on energy consumption and cooling costs in the data center. Server vendors like Dell, HP and IBM are natural leaders in the effort to build more power-conscious gear, since servers often take up the most data center space. But they aren't the only vendors trying to help companies trim their energy bills. Array Networks is the first network optimization vendor that I’ve heard pitching a “green” application acceleration platform.

A10 Networks closes $23 million funding round It's no simple feat to close a new round of venture funding, particularly in a cautious economic environment. But A10 Networks pulled it off. This week the vendor announced it secured $23 million in new funding to continue expanding its portfolio of application acceleration and network security products.

Multi-purpose management tools Network management technology isn't always considered the rock star of IT systems, but when money is tight, industry watchers argue many seemingly mundane tools can take the lead and offer myriad fixes to common problems.

A10 appliances gain new management options A10 Networks this week released new versions of its AX Series load balancing appliances with an eye toward delivering more flexible configuration options and making it easier for companies to tie into third-party management applications.

Experts flag Internet's scalability problems Recently, experts have turned up the volume on questions about the scalability of the Internet using the technologies and techniques of today.

Juniper to fall short on Q1 Juniper Networks this week said its first quarter revenue would fall short of previously stated guidance. The company expects revenue for the period that ended March 31 to come in at $760 million to $765 million, vs. previous estimates of $800 million to $830 million. Juniper said the lower projections are caused by lower than expected sales to service providers.

Adding Some Zoom to Office PowerPoint 2007 Microsoft Subnet blooger Steve_Johnson has found a way to add some zoom to PowerPoint presentations through the pptPlex add-in provided by Microsoft Office Labs.
