"Computer, compute to the last digit the value of pi"

Spock in Star Trek's Wolf in the Fold episode

Dear Vorticians,

This week, in the VORTEX Blog, I've covered the topics below. I
hope you'll read them and share your thoughts.

Service providers look to squelch municipal networks, 06/23/05

If I seem a little out of sorts, it's because I'm downright
grouchy about the tactics the incumbent service providers are
taking to squelch the development of municipal broadband
networks. Wouldn't the millions that go into lobbying government
officials to keep communities out of high-speed networking be
better spent on deployment of DSL? Read and speak out at the full
blog link below.

Frankly, my dear, I need a better interconnect technology,
06/22/05

Love lists? See where your favorite movie lines rate on the AFI's
list of the 100 greatest movie quotes ever and then try to figure
out what that has to do with the introduction of what promises to
be a very cool new data center interconnect technology called
EtherFabric.

AT&T kicks up the WiMAX party and a reader opines on utility
computing, 06/21/05

While the incumbents are squawking about community broadband,
AT&T is expanding its trial of WiMAX and plans to roll out real
services next year. Find out more, and read one Vortician's
intriguing view on what utility computing really means and why
the answers to all your questions can be found by viewing an old
episode of Star Trek.
