The first step in building a healthy relationship with your home router is to figure out its IP address. Even newfangled models with automatic setup push buttons have one. Fortunately, router IP addresses are not random numbers.

The standard usernames and passwords of most routers are listed in the documentation or online (see Linksys router default logins and Netgear router default logins for examples).
