Special Edition Spotlight Series - "The Microstaq Story"

DEMO 09 - The Launchpad for Emerging Technologies

Read, listen and see how one "silent innovator" met the world stage at DEMO.

They will never become a household name, most silent innovators don't. But, they came to DEMO 08 with a big idea, an even stronger business plan, and an eye-opening onstage presentation. From that venue, Microstaq raised an additional $12.5 million to close a Series B round with funding from Good Energies, with continued backing from Yaletown Venture Partners and Polygon Group.

Microstaq has developed a new kind of valve technology that significantly improves the energy efficiency of HVAC systems, auto transmission and braking systems, industrial hydraulics and pneumatics, and various medical applications.

According to Microstaq President & CEO, Sandeep Kumar, the exposure at DEMO "...allowed us to accelerate our footprint." He also added: "There are about 600 billion of these valves sold annually for global use, and our solutions address 70 to 80% of that market."

Listen to what's new at Microstaq since the launch?

Some thoughts on Microstaq from DEMO Executive Producer, Chris Shipley:

"HVAC technology is unusual territory for DEMO, but innovation never is. Energy conservation is perhaps the most important issue facing us today, and the tech sector is uniquely capable of developing innovative solutions. Microstaq has developed an inconspicuous device that will significantly reduce energy consumption across a number of industries."
