Survey finds most using virtualization, 08/13/07: More than half of IT organizations using virtualization technologies, according to a vendor-sponsored survey.

Open source and virtualization: a perfect match?, 08/10/07: Virtualization is a hot data center technology that is capturing the attention of IT for its consolidation and cost saving potential. As was evidenced at the LinuxWorld conference in San Francisco this week, open source and Linux platforms are on the forefront of the trend. HP turns to Linux for data center of the future, 08/08/07: HP's ambition to build the "next-generation data center" depends on Linux and open source, an HP executive said at the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo Wednesday.

U.S. panel approves supercomputer funding, 08/08/07: The U.S. National Science Board has authorized funding for two of the world's most powerful supercomputers, one of them capable of petaflop-speed operations.

IBM merges server and software to create data virtualization offering, 08/07/07: IBM is merging its server blade and data-integration software technologies to create a data-virtualization offering that is supposed to consolidate and move massive amounts of data and make it easier for users to find, the company said Monday.

Green Grid to deliver more studies by year-end, 08/08/07: Instead of delivering on its data center power-efficiency work, the Green Grid has announced nine more studies and has committed to delivering them by year-end. The job of producing usable power-efficiency metrics is proving difficult.
