FROM THE BLOGS AND FORUMS

Our latest blogger: Jeff Doyle, author of "Routing TCP/IP," volumes 1 and II, is now writing on networking, with a focus on (but not limited to) Cisco gear. Check his blog out and say hello.

John Obeto writes that "Microsoft security products" is no longer an oxymoron. Mark Gibbs remembers the fun old days of working for Novell in the 1980s. Brad Reese considers Cisco as winner of channel product of the year award. Michael Cooney considers an experimental robot that could one day do some "Fantastic Voyage" heart repair. Paul McNamara gets tired of those giant splashscreen ads that you have to click through to get to some sites now. Jason Meserve plays Programmer or Serial Killer. James Gaskin cannot fathom why HP doesn't include drivers for all of its own printers on its PCs.

User bpwsource asks for help with a wireless card that seems unable to connect to a network. One user wonders why Nortel is only now coming up with an MPLS alternative. Another user writes that in any battle between Microsoft/Yahoo and Google, he'll bet on Google. Users discuss the homeless man with the cigarette who disrupted Internet2 traffic between Boston and New York last week and examine Linux alternatives to Outlook.
