	PMC-Sierra launches Series 6 raid controllers In its first new product launch since acquiring Adaptec last spring, PMC-Sierra announced its new Series 6 line of 6Gbps RAID controllers. Supporting both Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) and Serial ATA (SATA) interfaces, the Series 6 adapters take advantage of PMC-Sierra's advanced multi-core raid-on-chip silicon. The adapters use an eight-lane PCIe Gen2 host bus interface capable of pumping 4.8GBps peak performance across the SAS 2.0 bi-directional interface. Cisco, others see healthy growth in data center, SANs Infonetics expects data center equipment market to grow 67% this year, SANs to double by 2014 A new round of data center upgrades, driven by virtualization, growing amounts of data and a greater need for storage, pumped life into the data center equipment market in 2010, according to Infonetics Research. Even with a flat third quarter and an expected down fourth quarter, the market will grow about 67% this year over last.
