From Bradley Mitchell, your Guide to Computer Networking
If the topics listed at the top of this week's newsletter aren't of much interest, don't forget to page down to the Featured Articles section where you'll find even more new and updated topics from the world of networking, including a mention of Connectify for Windows 7.

A Look at "Wireless Wizard"
Wireless Wizard is one of many free utilities designed to help manage Wi-Fi networks and their connection to the Internet. But I personally don't find this one very helpful.

What Is Ad-Hoc Mode in Wireless Networking?
On wireless computer networks, ad-hoc mode is a method for wireless devices to directly communicate with each other. Operating in ad-hoc mode allows all wireless devices within range of each other to discover and communicate in peer-to-peer fashion without involving central access points (including those built in to broadband wireless routers).

Does Wi-Fi Work on Your iPad?
Within a day of its launch, reports of users having trouble with Wi-Fi on their Apple iPad began flooding in. According to Apple technical support, this issue is specific to just certain types of wireless environments, and the workaround isn't too difficult. Now that a week has gone by, the buzz certainly seems to have died down. Personally I haven't found anyone who's hit the problem yet.

Introduction to Proxy Servers
Proxy servers (also known as proxies) act as a broker between the two ends of a client/server network connection. Home networks, corporate intranets, and Internet Service Providers can use proxy servers to enhance performance and safety.
