Has the Golden Age of CCIE Passed? Once upon a time, if you wanted to work in networking, and you wanted to remain a technologist, and you wanted certs to demonstrate your skills, CCIE was clearly the one end goal of your certification future. IPv6 Traffic: Do Not be Overly Alarmed Some recent Network World articles have been written about the fact that organizations have IPv6 traffic on them even though they have not explicitly enabled IPv6 on their hosts or network devices. I don't want you to overreact to this news or to unnecessarily spread fear-uncertainty-and-doubt about IPv6. Drudge Report wipes smile off Treasury Department's face Don't ever underestimate the power of sunlight
or the Internet, in general
or The Drudge Report, in particular. The Treasury Department learned that lesson the embarrassing way this morning after being forced to pull an online contract solicitation for

Kevin Turner, Microsoft COO, is claiming Apple lawyers called him requesting Microsoft stop running the "laptop hunter" ads based upon outdated pricing information. It's got Web-based apps that are now (finally) out of beta. It's got the right vision, IMHO, for mobility. They have the potential at the very least to put a thumbtack on Microsoft's chair, if not actually kick them in the butt. Make sure yours is a WAN with a plan Now is an excellent time to be reevaluating your WAN strategy. New technologies such as carrier Ethernet and Session Initiation Protocol trunking can help cut costs and increase availability. WAN and application optimization technologies can make better use of existing facilities. And many companies are experiencing a (likely temporary) pause in the unrelenting expansion of branch offices -- making this the perfect time to take a few steps back and revisit the overall networking strategy.
