Cisco retreating from WiMAX with Starent buy? Cisco blew a big hole in its "agnostic" mobile wireless story with this week's $2.9 billion buyout of Starent. While placing a big bet on mobile WiMAX two years ago with the $330 million purchase of Navini Networks, Cisco trumped that this week by plunking down almost 10 times that amount on Starent, which sees LTE as "the future."
