Perdue Streamlines IT Management, Cuts Maintenance Expenses By Paul Korzeniowski When Napoleon Crowe, NOC Engineer III, was hired at Perdue (http://www.perdue.com) in early 2007, the SolarWinds Orion management solution was relegated to niche status, mainly monitoring whether network connections were up or down. Gradually, the chicken producer has expanded its use to oversee its Voice over IP (VoIP) connections and data center servers. One of the results of this expansion is that Perdue dumped IBM's Tivoli, its long standing systems management solution, and reduced its annual maintenance costs by $110,000. | |
