I had the chance to sit down with Michelle Munson, president and co-founder of Aspera, at Interop to learn why her company is different from other WAN acceleration companies. The first thing you should know is that Aspera is a software company -- unlike Cisco, Riverbed, Juniper, Expand, Blue Coat and Fastsoft, which all offer appliance-based solutions.

What's up in the branch?
Wireless vendors are attempting to ease the pain of branch office computing with multifunction networking products that replicate the headquarters LAN experience and require little or no IT expertise. But don't forget that at any site with more than one possible WAN path to take, you need routing.
