TOP PICK OF THE WEEK:
Windows Server 2008 adoption: expect slow going
Windows Server 2008 could be just as slow to be accepted in the enterprise as Windows Vista. In a survey of 687 IT professionals conducted by Network World, half of them said that they have no plans whatsoever to upgrade to Windows Server 2008 at any time after it launches in February. This compares to 13 percent that said they would upgrade in the first 12 months after its release.

Office Communications server docs
Something I hear a lot from consultants and clients alike is that OCS is trying to be everything to everybody. The truth is, most companies don't want to roll out ALL of the OCS functionality. However the killer app is different for everyone. This can make it very difficult to be an all-around OCS expert. Microsoft has published a roadmap doc that is pretty handy.

Sue Hanley: Essential SharePoint
The value of data – keeping private data private requires effective policies and due diligence
The news is appalling, writes Hanley. A low level employee in the British government sent computer disks containing the names, addresses and birth dates of every child in the country (along with the bank account details and national insurance numbers of 10 million parents). The employee used “regular” inter-office mail and guess what? That the disks never arrived. Is anyone surprised?
