	Seagate scoffs at helium, ships world's first 8TB hard drive Seagate today announced it's shipping to enterprise customers the world's first 8TB hard disk drive, raising the bar against rivals such as Western Digital, which uses helium to boost its own drive capacity.Seagate's new 8TB drive comes in a 3.5-in form factor and is aimed at allowing corporate data centers to create more dense storage arrays for cloud content, object-based storage and data backups. Microsoft unifies OneDrive consumer and workplace versions on Android app Microsoft has consolidated the consumer and enterprise editions of OneDrive under a single Android app, a move it plans to replicate across all the platforms that the cloud storage service runs on.In an update rolling out Thursday, the Android app will give users access to both their OneDrive and OneDrive for Business accounts, so that they have their personal and work files in a single place. There is already heavy competition in this arena from Dropbox, Google, Microsoft and VMware, among others.Amazon announced Zocalo in July and pitched the service as an enterprise-friendly way to store and share files. It lets administrators control security policies, user access and storage limits. Administrators can configure policies to prevent employees from sharing documents externally, for example. The system can span direct-attached storage, network-attached storage and storage area networks. RecoverPoint for VMs is due to be available in October. Support for other hypervisors will come later, the company said.As virtualization and cloud computing gradually dominate IT architectures, EMC is seeking to put the point of storage control closer to the application.
