One type of Wi-Fi network, dual-band wireless networks are capable of communicating on either the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz bands. This can be very useful when attempting to link a mix of different kinds of Wi-Fi equipment into a complete home network. Not much 5 Ghz stuff right now. It also creates a problem if you do not have all 5Ghz hardware. I agree unless you really need more local network speed for video streaming for example. Or use a server for backups.
