About Computer Networking: Navy Spending Billions For a Less Secure Network?
It's no secret that the U.S. Navy is spending billions of dollars on it's Next Generation Enterprise Network. Loren Thompson at forbes.com is concerned the new network is going to have more security issues than the Navy's current one, for a few reasons. Regardless of whether you agree with his logic, this point in the article is what really grabbed my attention: The Navy is spending billions of dollars on its network! When it already has one! Does that sound like a good idea to you?
"Is there anyone in this entire world that is naive enough to think that Google was 'mistakenly' harvesting WiFi information (and every category of personal and public information) on everybody on this earth who ever touches a computer? What do people think Google wants with this information? THEY SELL IT!!!" -John3347
Standard computers allow you to turn off wireless networking easily. This can save power and sometimes even improve your network security. But can Wi-Fi be turned off on wireless routers? It depends.
