From Bradley Mitchell, your Guide to Computer Networking
The thought of seeing a Windows 7 desktop on my Apple iPad is decidedly not cool, but it can be done thanks to the magic of - remote desktop. In computer networking, remote desktop is one form of remote control which is one form of remote access. Or something like that.

What Is Remote Access?
Did you know that the Remote Desktop Connection software built into Windows 7 cannot control a Home or Home Premium Edition system? You'll probably need to find another software application if you want to set up remote access into your home network. Fortunately, they exist.

DISCUSS: How to Choose a Static IP Address
If you're trying to network a device that doesn't support DHCP, odds are you'll need to configure it with a static IP address. DHCP is the de facto standard for dynamic addressing on modern networks, yet many Internet Protocol (IP) devices don't support it. The most difficult part of setting a static IP is figuring out which address to use. There's no simple answer that covers all cases.

What Is a Network Lag Switch?
Every day I play Call of Duty on Xbox Live, I hear teams being accused of using a lag switch. I don't have any proof to back it up but expect that nine times out of ten, it's a bogus claim. What is a lag switch? It's probably more rare than you think.
