Why the Citrix/XenSource union is good for storage, Part 2 , 08/23/07: Today, we’re continuing our look at why the recently announced union of Citrix and XenSource is good from a storage point of view. XenSource’s XenEnterprise handles storage virtualization differently than VMware’s Virtual Infrastructure 3, XenSource claims.

USB storage aims to be automatic backup robot, 08/23/07: The drill goes something like this: after getting perilously close to running out of hard disk space, you leap into spring cleaning mode and begin furiously corralling all of your important files in preparation for a marathon DVD burning session. Only then can you safely delete your culled files and reclaim drive space, assured in the knowledge that you have a backup safely tucked away.

Sun to announce data center efficiencies, 08/22/07: Sun has upgraded three of its data centers in the U.S., U.K. and India to make dramatic electricity savings and cut its carbon footprint. It joins IBM and HP in offering its own data center experiences as a green example to its customers.
