SPLIT-ANALYSIS WIRELESS SECURITY

Wireless security tools perform security analysis in sensors
scattered throughout a wireless LAN or in a central server, but
both options have drawbacks. A blended approach to wireless
security lets sensors and servers share the job of analysis.
Find out how split-analysis could boost wireless security on
your network. Click here:

NETFLASH: BREAKING NEWS FROM NETWORKWORLD.COM

By Jeff Caruso

Does Cisco have a shot at taking management business away from
heavy hitters like HP and IBM? Some say Cisco has a magnificent
opportunity here, and the company is laying quite a foundation
for management.

Net access security plans sow confusion

Everyone is getting into the network access control game - even
Cisco and Microsoft. Symantec last week bought its way in.
They're all realizing that end points are the weakest link in
the enterprise security chain. Fortunately or unfortunately,
this is creating all sorts of options for network managers. How
to sort it all out?

Q&A: F5 CEO talks Layer 4-7 growth

F5 has seen its share of market churn over the last half-decade
- the telecom/dot-com boom and bust, the doldrums of 2002-2003
and the recent resurgence of the application acceleration
market. Now the vendor is feeling the squeeze from new
competitor Juniper and a resurgence in application switching
focus from old competitor Cisco. F5 CEO John McAdam recently
spoke with Network World Senior Editor Phil Hochmuth about where
the vendor stands in the ever-shifting Layer 4-7/application
acceleration market.

Oracle/IBM battle beyond the database

No longer satisfied with its role as the corporate database
leader, Oracle has been building out its middleware portfolio
through R&D and acquisitions and is increasingly going
head-to-head with IBM.

Radio: Windows worms, flaws plague users

With multiple worms released last week to exploit the recently
patched Windows Plug and Play flaw and new details on an
Internet Explorer vulnerability that's not patched, users and
administrators have a lot on their plates. We're joined by
Johannes Ullrich of the Internet Storm Center and Eric Yoshizuru
of Panda Software to discuss the latest security threats. Listen

Today on Layer 8, where complaining is our middle name:

We here in Massachusetts may complain about our state
legislature, but we have nothing on Pennsylvania; a
do-it-yourself magazine cover generator that uses Flickr; for
those looking for something a little different to listen to
online, we give you Railroad Radio; and we unveil our latest
caption contest winner. Join in the fun at:
