Last month, Paltalk announced it completed a buyback of its shares from investor Softbank Capital Partners after having achieved years of profitability. The Paltalk platform was launched in 1998 and has more than 4 million unique users a month with nearly 100,000 people simultaneously chatting in rooms at any given time. Read full story

Last week, I wrote about the possible implications of the new lineup of FCC commissioners. They certainly haven't wasted any time: On Aug. 3, the FCC launched a full-scale investigation into the decision by Apple and AT&T to reject Google's voice application for the iPhone.

Clearwire adds Huawei to WiMAX vendor roster
Clearwire rounded out its roster of WiMAX equipment vendors Tuesday by announcing that Huawei will be supplying the carrier with WiMAX radio access network (RAN) equipment.

An interesting discussion on the Broadband forum of DSLReports.com documents how to reach a Goolge Voice number via a SIP phone. "this is a direct connection, without going through Gizmo or any other SIP provider," the user claims.
