These are sometimes called bandwidth caps. It's amazing how much network traffic a person can generate these days almost without realizing it. Are you aware of your network footprint? What Is a Bandwidth Cap? Does your provider have you on a monthly bandwidth quota? Is your broadband capped to a limited data rate? If so, you are not alone. This expands on the same file transfer capability already available in Google Talk. File sharing in Gmail is still limited to messages of a certain size, unfortunately. (Although that may help keep your bandwidth usage lower, actually.)
