But this new annoucement from the WPC opts to provide an open standard for a wide range of devices to utilize, rather than have companies develop their own closed formats. Qwest Wireless customers were told Tuesday that they have two months to switch their service to Verizon before their own service ends. The switch from legacy Qwest Wireless services to Verizon has been in the works since last year when the company signed a five-year deal to make Verizon its official wireless carrier.
