Cisco buying maker of Flip camcorder
As expected, Cisco Thursday announced its intent to acquire privately held Pure Digital Technologies, creator of the Flip video camcorder for consumers, for $590 million in stock. Pure Digital is a "pioneer" in developing consumer-friendly video with mass-market appeal, Cisco says. The acquisition of Pure Digital is key to Cisco's strategy to expand momentum in the media-enabled home and to capture the consumer market transition to visual networking, Cisco said in a statement.

Brad Reese on Cisco: Cisco unified computing: Gold's gym for buff CIOs or an assisted living center for CIOs to be taken care of?
Yours truly believes the new Cisco unified computing system will offer CIOs either a Gold's gym to get buff or an assisted living center to be taken care of and quite possibly it could even switch back and forth between the two. However, most interesting to me is the viewpoint of Wall Street analyst - Mark Sue...

This is the scariest, stealthiest, and most dangerous exploit I've seen come around since the legendary Blue Pill! No, I'm not just trying to sensationalize this or spread fear, uncertainty and doubt. This is serious and represents a massive new security threat for us all.

Dennis Hartmann on Cisco Unified Communications: Cisco Unified Communications Manager 7.0 Features
Cisco Unified Communications Manager 7.0 has added a number of new features that are worth discussing. This blog will be the first blog in a blog series that will introduce the new features introduced with CUCM 7.0. I have included a hyper-link to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager 7.x Solution Reference Network Design Guide (CUCM 7.x SRND) in the references section of this blog. The updated 7.x SRND includes a “What’s New” section at the beginning of each chapter so you can decide whether that section is worth reading. If you’ve been reading the Call Manager documentation as long as I have, you’re probably not interested in reading the same information for the Nth time, but you may be very interested in the new features of 7.x.

Jeff Doyle on IP Routing: Measuring the Immeasurable
I’ve been an avid skier for more than half my life. When we get our first light October snowfalls here in Colorado, I start getting serious about getting in shape. Sadly, this winter my consulting practice has been so busy that I haven’t been able to give much more attention to skiing than I’ve been able to give to this blog. Which is not much at all. Given the state of the economy its certainly good to be busy, but realizing that the Colorado ski resorts start closing next month – and that the snow is already getting slushy – is downright depressing.

Brandon Carroll: Cisco unwired: DSSS tidbits.
Before I get started with this post I want to apologize to the readers here for taking so long to get a post up. Over the last few weeks I have been ramping up for the CCIE Security Lab exam which I took and passed on Friday, March 13, 2009. At last I can spend some more of my time in the Cisco Learning Network and here on this blog helping CCNA Wireless candidates prepare for the IUWNE exam.
