Dell revamps PowerEdge line of servers, 11/12/07: Bringing Intel's latest Penryn chip to its servers, Dell on Monday is expected to revamp the PowerEdge line of servers with new hardware and nomenclature to identify servers.

10-Gigabit switch start-up expands line, 11/12/07: Woven Systems, a 10Gbps Ethernet fabric switching start-up, this week unveiled a 48-port “top of rack” Gigabit Ethernet edge switch for data centers.

Intel launches power-efficient Penryn processors, 11/11/07: Intel on Sunday launched its long-awaited new line of power-efficient microprocessors, code-named Penryn, designed to deliver better graphics and application performance as well as virtualization capabilities.

Three more products in the Microsoft System Center suite now available: Three new System Center products have begun shipping. These are System Center Configuration Manager 2007, System Center Data Protection Manager 2007 and System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2007.  (Plus, see author expert Kerrie Meyler's analysis of new System Center features.) 

New PC gear could reap $1.8 billion in energy savings, 11/07/07: You want some energy savings? For every 100 computers a business replaces with computers meeting the government’s most recent Energy Star specification, it will save $175 per year on energy bills and more than $670 over the lifetime of the computers, the Environmental Protection Agency said.

Microsoft dives into enterprise search with free server, 11/06/07: Microsoft Tuesday made a dramatic statement about its future in enterprise search by introducing a free search server along with a licensed version, both of which align with search software already offered via SharePoint Server.

Microsoft's Centro becomes 'Essential' business server, 11/07/07: Microsoft will release a public beta version of a bundle of server software products for midsize businesses, codenamed "Centro," in the first half of next year.
