Avaya upgrades software for interactive voice response, 08/21/07: Avaya announced Tuesday at the SpeechTEK2007 conference that it is enabling a voice-recognition front end to customers’ self-service applications that are based on Web services. Report: Cisco share of IP phone market slipping away: Cisco is losing its grip of the Web phone market, while Avaya expanded its lead according to figures from Synergy Research Group. Microsoft stashes Cisco hugs, attacks with new server for voice, video quality, 08/21/07: One day after its collaborative lovefest with Cisco, Microsoft Tuesday wiped off the lipstick and came out swinging as it introduced a new server designed to let users troubleshoot voice and video problems by monitoring network performance in real time. Skype’s finger pointing at Microsoft -- outrageous: John Obeto writes: “A total network outage occurs … finally the company speaks (through a blog no less, -- very Web 2.0, thank you!). They blame everyone’s favorite whipping boy, Microsoft. What are you kidding me?” Google struggles with phone number 'for life', 08/20/07: Google's GrandCentral Communications is finding it tricky to keep its promise to provide its clients with a single phone number "for life." |
