When reader Phil Remaker recently noticed that I had, many moons ago, been co-founder of Novell UK he commented:

Co-founder, Novell UK! Eeek! Did I send you my "Why Novell died" rant? Even if I did, here it is again.

Context: A front page box on Network World appeared that said: "Does Novell Still Matter? See page 8"

I wrote to the editor and said "I think that box answers its own question. Page 8, indeed."

Fix for Black Box Around Cursor in XP in a VM

I had a weird problem when I ran Windows XP in a virtual machine under VMware and accessed it remotely using UltraVNC: A black box around the cursor. I searched the 'Net and eventually found a solution -- it seems that maximum hardware acceleration for video in the guest OS is incompatible in this setup. Knocking the hardware acceleration down by one notch fixed the problem. May this post save one of you from spending far too long googling ...
