NETFLASH: BREAKING NEWS FROM NETWORKWORLD.COM

By Jeff Caruso

There were rumors a month ago that Cisco might buy Trend Micro -
it turns out the two were working on fleshing out their
partnership instead. The companies have developed a security
service to help Cisco equipment owners set policies based on
information coming from the anti-virus vendor.

3Com introduces branch office wireless

3Com took Trapeze Networks hardware and created a wireless LAN
switch. It's actually the kid sister to 3Com's other wireless
switches, and coordinates with them over a WAN link.

Opinion: Skype: Hazardous to network health?

While not exactly a low-profile endeavor before its recent
acquisition by eBay, Skype is sure to be an even greater
presence on the Internet and on home computers - and most likely

network's health?

Painless patching

An emerging category of network equipment is giving network
executives more time to install security patches by keeping
servers safe until full-blown fixes can be tested and installed.

ONStor, 3Par merge NAS and SAN

Network-attached storage vendor ONStor and storage-area network
vendor 3Par last week said they have joined forces to deliver an
offering that combines the best of both of their technologies.
