Today's focus: Aduva hooks Linux management into Sun, IBM

Linux network management firm Aduva will make several product
announcements at LinuxWorld San Francisco next week, aimed at
simplifying the deployment and management of a widespread Linux
server environment.

Aduva will launch Version 3.0 of its OnStage management
platform. The software can be used to control the configuration
of and monitor the health of hundreds of Linux servers from a
single GUI-based console.

Aduva is adding to Version 3.0 a module that can allow users to
integrate management of Sun Solaris servers with Linux servers,
allowing administrators to manage both operating system types
from a single console. The software will also contain a feature
aimed at making it easier for users to migrate from Solaris to
Linux. The software provides tools and configuration wizards for
moving data and applications from Sun boxes to Linux servers.
Aduva says it also revamped its GUI and added a new reporting
module, allowing administrators to generate reports on Linux
server activity.

Along with its Sun-focused OnStage 3.0 release, Aduva will be
integrating advanced management integration with IBM at
LinuxWorld. OnStage will now have the ability to manage all of
IBM's various server hardware platforms running Linux, the
company says. While in the past, only Intel-based servers
running Linux could be controlled via OnStage, the new IBM
integration support will allow IBM zSeries (mainframe),
PowerPC-based pSeries and iSeries, BladeCenter JS20 as well as
Intel-based xSeries servers running Linux to be controlled via
the OnStage interface.
